On my way to get my garden goodies the other day
I spotted this grove of pecan trees. They were
just starting to bud out and such a beautiful
shade of spring green. I love trees when they
are just budding, one because of the color, and
two, because you can still see the entire shape
of all the limbs and branches...
I really enjoy painting shadows, especially exaggerated
ones. I work really hard when setting up the lighting
to have the shadows really stretched out. I hope to have
a better set up one day soon~~
This setting just looks like a good place
to sit by and read your favorite magazine
or book. The peonies might even inspire one
to stop and smell the "flowers".

I painted this pear firsh with my brushes then decided it looked
too flat for my liking. So I took a palette knife and went back
over skimming the tops here and there to give it more dimension
and was pleased with the turn out..

I took several photos of this painted with two
different cameras even and was never really
satisfied with any of them...argh~Sometimes
I just can't get the pics of my paintings to
show the true tone of the original painting...
In this one, for instance, the pot that these
marigolds are in lean more towards the creams
and little warmer tones, but in my photos it
just wouldn't pick that feel up...
It is getting close to planting time.
My neighbor is letting me use a little
of his garden space and I just can't
wait to get started. It has been
several years sice I have had a garden,
so I hope things turn out. I will be
seeking lots of advice from him though
because he is an avid gardener...

Yep, went a little crazy with these jewels, but
they were so much fun to paint~~Actually, there
will probably be several more in the future...
they are just now starting to bloom ;)

I painted this on Monday, but am just now getting
around to posting it...These iris came from my yard
but originally came from my husbands grandmother.
When she passed away, we dug some up to plant in
our yard and now ever year when they bloom we think
of her...

I had a hard time coming up with a name for this one. Today has been a "good painting" day. I was real happy with the way this one turned out, and hope you will be too~~

Painting yellow is about as equally difficult for
me as white subjects. Most yellows are very transparent and
even in a thick applications, they are hard to manipulate.
Even though yellows are tough, I had a very nice time with this
painting and plan on a larger canvas with sunflowers...

I have been working on a few larger works the last
few days and thought since I didn't paint a small work
today, that I would post what I did do...This painting was
done with a palette knife. I really like how you can just
attack the canvas with such thick and bold strokes, it really does
free the mind...
